Casing and Handling: Elevators: Internal Grip
Internal Grip Elevator
The industry’s most versatile elevator — Frank’s Internal Grip Elevator is
essentially three tools in one! An elevator, a fill-up tool and a cementing tool
No other elevator is designed or is capable of integrating these functions.
How is the Frank’s Internal Grip Elevator designed?
The Internal Grip Elevator is designed to fit inside the joints of casing being
raised or lowered. When the slips are set, they push outward on the inside
diameter of the casing joint and grip the pipe. It has a safe working load
rating of 350 tons.
What are the advantages of Frank’s Internal Grip Elevator?
As the name suggests, the elevator is actually located inside the casing. This
not only creates a less cluttered working environment, but it also allows room
for a standard spider to be set just below the collar. The ability to do this
allows the elevator to mimic the safety features of the flush mount spider,
therefore eliminating the need for one. Another plus is that this elevator can
be interlocked with any pneumatic spider equipped with Frank’s Elevator / Spider
Interlock System. In regards to fill-up and cementing procedures, the Internal
Grip Elevator easily combines with Frank’s FACTS (Fill-up and Cementing Tool
System) thereby rendering the cementing head obsolete.
How does Frank’s Internal Grip Elevator create a safer work environment?
Because the Spider is set adjacent to the casing coupling the tong operator is
able to stand on the rig floor and make up the joint of pipe without having to
scaffold up.
What is the range of casing that Frank’s Internal Grip Elevator can handle?
The Elevator is capable of handling sizes of 16”, 18-5/8”, and 20”. |
